Promoting quality prawn seed, science-based farming and practical knowledge for farmers
FISHBYTE recently organized an interactive knowledge-sharing and discussion session in Dighalia Upazila, Khulna, focusing on quality freshwater prawn seed supply and nature-based, science-driven farming practices.
The session brought together local prawn farmers and aquaculture experts to discuss practical challenges, farm management, seed quality, and approaches to improving productivity while maintaining a more sustainable and nature-aligned farming system.
The event was graced by Ms. Snigdha Kha Babli, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer, Dighalia Upazila, as the Chief Guest. Mr. Taslim Mahmood, Aquaculture Consultant and Project Director of Oasis Hatchery, Batiaghata, attended as the Special Guest and shared his extensive technical knowledge and practical experience in aquaculture. The session was chaired by Mr. Zubair Khan, Founder and CEO, FISHBYTE LTD.
An important feature of the session was its interactive format. Rather than being limited to one-way presentations, farmers openly shared their field-level experiences and challenges and had the opportunity to ask questions directly to the experts. The discussion covered various aspects of prawn farming, enabling participants to gain practical guidance that can be applied to their own farms.
FISHBYTE believes that improving aquaculture productivity requires more than access to inputs. Quality seed, sound farm management, practical knowledge, and continuous engagement with farmers must work together to create a stronger and more resilient aquaculture sector.
As part of its broader farmer engagement initiative, FISHBYTE plans to organize similar knowledge-sharing and consultation sessions across upazilas in major shrimp and prawn farming areas of Bangladesh. Through these initiatives, FISHBYTE aims to bring technical expertise closer to farming communities and create a direct platform for farmers to learn, share and make better-informed farming decisions.
The journey continues and FISHBYTE will be coming to more farming communities across Bangladesh.
