FISHBYTE hosts freshwater prawn farmer dialogue in Fakirhat Upazila

fakirhat upazila fishbyte workshop

Advancing nature-based and science-driven aquaculture through direct farmer engagement

FISHBYTE LTD recently organized a farmer dialogue session at the Fakirhat Upazila Parishad Auditorium, Bagerhat, bringing together local freshwater prawn farmers for an open discussion on improved and sustainable farming practices.

The session focused on nature-based and science-driven approaches to freshwater prawn farming, with farmers actively sharing their field experiences, challenges, and questions. The interactive discussion provided an opportunity to explore practical ways of improving farm management, making better-informed production decisions, and building more productive and sustainable farming systems.

The event was attended by Mr. Sheikh Asadullah, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer, Fakirhat, as the Chief Guest. Mr. Taslim Mahmood, Aquaculture Consultant and Project Director of Oasis Hatchery, joined as the Special Guest and shared his extensive experience and technical insights with the participating farmers. The session was chaired by Mr. Zubair Khan, Founder and Chief Executive Director of FISHBYTE LTD.

FISHBYTE considers direct dialogue with farmers an essential part of its approach to aquaculture development. Beyond providing access to quality aquaculture inputs, the company aims to support farmers with practical knowledge, technical guidance, and better farming practices that can contribute to improved productivity and reduced production risks.

The enthusiastic participation of the Fakirhat farming community reinforced the importance of creating regular platforms where farmers can openly discuss their challenges and engage directly with experienced aquaculture professionals.

The Fakirhat session is part of FISHBYTE’s ongoing farmer engagement initiative across the major freshwater prawn and shrimp-producing regions of Bangladesh. Through these initiatives, FISHBYTE aims to bring knowledge, technology, quality solutions, and technical support closer to farming communities and contribute to a more productive, resilient, and sustainable aquaculture sector.
